Questions About Roofing and Siding in Flower Mound

Twelve answers, grouped by what they are about.

About the service

Who shows up at my house?

An independent roofing or siding contractor that works in the Flower Mound area. Not an employee of this site. The company will give you its own name when it contacts you.

Does it cost anything to use the site?

No. Describing your house and being put in touch costs you nothing. If you hire the contractor you pay that company for the work, on terms the two of you agree in writing.

Which places do you cover?

Flower Mound, including neighborhoods such as Wellington and Bridlewood, and Lantana, Highland Village, Lewisville, Double Oak, Bartonville and Argyle. Each has a page under places covered.

Is the contractor licensed?

Texas has no state license for roofers or siding installers, so the honest answer is that there is no such license to hold. Ask for insurance, a local address and written warranty terms instead.

About roofs here

How long does a shingle roof last in North Texas?

It varies with the product, the color, attic ventilation and how many hailstorms it meets. Manufacturers' warranty periods are longer than what heat and hail usually allow. A roof here is better judged by its condition than by a number of years.

Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Flower Mound?

One local real estate guide, published in October 2025, lists roof replacement among the projects that need a town permit and says the town requires contractors to register. This site could not read the town's own pages to confirm it. Ask Flower Mound Building Inspections, and ask your contractor who pulls the permit.

What is a Class 4 shingle?

A shingle that passed the most severe level of a standard steel-ball impact test. Some insurers treat such roofs differently. Ask your own agent what, if anything, changes on your policy before choosing one. More on the impact-rated shingles page.

Why would a two-year-old roof leak?

Usually not through the shingles. Pipe boots, flashing where a roof meets a wall or chimney, and valleys are where a new roof leaks if a detail was rushed.

About siding and trim

My house is brick. Why would I need siding work?

Many brick houses have siding somewhere: a gable above the garage, an upper story at the back, dormers, or a boxed chimney. Those areas are high up, face the weather and are easy to overlook. This site has no survey of how Flower Mound houses are clad, so the pages describe what to look for on your own.

Can hail damage siding and trim?

Yes. It chips paint to bare wood, cracks brittle boards, dents metal and tears screens. Chipped paint matters because bare wood then takes on water.

Does the same contractor do roofing and siding?

Some companies do both and some do one. Say on the form what you need looked at so the request reaches the right kind of company.

About insurance

Will you handle my claim?

No. This site does not file, negotiate, adjust or settle insurance claims. In Texas that work belongs to you, your insurer and, if you hire one, a licensed public adjuster. A contractor can give you written findings and photographs of the roof.
