Roofing and Siding in Lantana
Lantana is younger than Flower Mound and is not a town. Both facts change the roofing conversation.
A Community That Starts in 2001
Ground was broken on Lantana on March 16, 2000, and the first residents moved in on July 31, 2001. The census counted 6,874 people in 2010 and 10,785 in 2020. No house here is older than this century, and a good share are under fifteen years old.
That means there is no layer of worn-out 1990s roofs. Before 2023, most Lantana roofs were original and many were still within their expected life.

Named in the Hail Report
Lantana is the first place named in the Cross Timbers Gazette's account of June 11, 2023: hail as large as baseballs around 8 to 8:30 p.m., and the Lantana golf course littered with it. NBC DFW also ran viewer photographs captioned as baseball-size hail in Lantana that evening.
So the typical Lantana question is different from the Flower Mound one. It is less often an old roof finished off by hail and more often a fairly young roof that was hit before its time. If it was replaced, the house now has a roof much newer than its neighbors' siding and trim. If it was not, a ten- or fifteen-year-old shingle that took baseball-size hail deserves a close look.

Not a Town
Lantana is an unincorporated planned community in Denton County, served by fresh water supply districts and a community association. It has no town hall issuing permits. This site did not read Denton County's rules and does not state what, if anything, the county requires for a re-roof. Ask your contractor and the community association before work starts.
The association is likely to have exterior standards. Get its approval for shingle color and siding changes in writing.
What People Here Ask About
- Hail damage inspection for a roof not replaced since 2023.
- Impact-rated shingles for the next one.
- Fiber cement siding repairs where boards were cracked or chipped.
- A follow-up inspection of a roof installed in the weeks after the storm.
Questions From Lantana
Is Lantana part of Flower Mound?
No. It is a separate, unincorporated community to the northwest, adjacent to Bartonville. It is covered by this site because it is next door and was hit by the same storm.
Who do I ask about a permit in Lantana?
There is no municipal building department. Ask your contractor what Denton County requires and ask the community association what it requires; this site could not confirm either.
My Lantana house was built in 2012. Could the roof already need replacing?
Age alone would say no. A baseball-size hail report in 2023 is the reason to have it inspected.
